AWARDS & HONORS

At the 2011 Founder's Day Awards Ceremony, Lyn Baldwin, President of the Friends of the Rains County Public Library, was presented with a check for $1,421.00. Funds were raised from the May 7 Founder's Day Festival in Emory and dispersed to local non-profit organizations who serve the youth, elderly, and underprivileged in the Rains community.

Awarded Honorable Mention by the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), the Friends of the Rains County Public Library were recognized for our creativity, innovation, and promotion of the Friends group to the community during National Friends of the Libraries Week, October 17 -23, 2010.

We are a 2010 recipient of a $1400 BOOKS FOR CHILDREN grant from the Libri Foundation which provides new, quality, hardcover books for the library. The Foundation supports the concept that children who learn to enjoy reading at an early age continue to read throughout their lives.

In 2009, ALTAFF recognized the Friends of the Rains County Public Library with two
Best Friends Awards for outstanding publicity and marketing materials that promoted the group and our programs and projects.
